-
Missed Period
If a week or more has passed without the start of an expected menstrual cycle, consider getting a pregnancy test. Irregular menstrual cycles can be confusing and testing early can help.
-
Swollen or tender breasts
If you are pregnant, hormonal changes early in your pregnancy can make your breasts sensitive and sore. The discomfort will likely decrease after a few weeks as your body adjusts to hormonal changes but sore or tender breasts can be an early sign of pregnancy.
-
Nausea, stomach pain and/or vomiting
Often called morning sickness, nausea can happen at any time. Normally it can start as early as one to two months after you become pregnant. Pregnancy hormones can play a role in nausea but not all women experience this symptom.
-
Feeling tired or needing naps
Changes in progesterone may play role in fatigue and feelings of tiredness early in a pregnancy. If you suddenly feel the need for a nap or feel sluggish throughout the day for no reason, this may be an early sign of pregnancy.
-
Mood Swings
Mood swings are very common and often the result of dramatic changes in hormone levels throughout the body.
-
Bloating
Bloating is also very common and related to hormone levels that are rapidly changing.
-
Constipation
Pregnancy can cause your digestive tract to slow down and thus lead to constipation.
Most all of these symptoms of pregnancy aren’t unique to pregnancy. You may be sick, about to get your period, or have a reaction to food or the environment. If, however, you think you could be pregnant, contact us at any time to discuss your symptoms and your options.
